Sushi day

Today what I want for lunch is sushi sushi sushi. So I called Reza to accompany me, and good he was up for lunch too. He said that Alvin and Elke (Roy's sister who came from London) might want to join us. Great, that's even better!!
Sushi at Noriega Teriyaki

First we wanted to go to Ajas's Rest. where he works as a sushi chef, unfortunately his rest. was closed for lunch - damn! Next, we tried to go to Chika Japanese Rest. on Irving St., again that place closed for lunch. What the heck was going on? Were they trying to boycott my craving for sushi??? Oh well, because we were already on Irving St. we went to Ebisu. A side from sushi we also had Sake. Alvin ordered 1/2 dozens of Oysters - whatch out girls!!...kakkakaakaaa...

After lunch, none of us wanted to go home. Alvin's idea - we went to Sport Bar nearby, forgot what is it called. Not sure what was the bartender thinking about us, maybe he thought that we were some kind of trouble youngsters (well it was Monday around 3pm and we were already in the bar). I didn't blame him though, like we care anyway!

We had 3 rounds of cocktails....Elke quite a strong drinker too. Good girl!!...All of us pretty much talked about nothing....we had a good time.
Bar with Reza, Elke & Alvin

Didi picked me around 5.30 pm, then we had dinner @ Noriega Teriyaki - and again I had sushi. Yumm!!
(ps: the next day at work, I had sushi again for lunch....After 40 days with no sushi at all, I think I deserved those treatment).

This sushi craving really confirm that I would never be a vegetarian, I have no problem not eating all kind of meats for the past 7 years (I gave up meat for Easter Lenten in 1998 - hadn't had meat ever since). Being pescaterian (eat fish but no other meat) is enough for me.

Easter's Eve & Easter Day

Happy Easter everybody!
St. Cecilia Church

After got back from Novi & Steve's house, we just went home.
I sang in the choir for Easter's Eve Mass @ St. Cecilia Church at 8 pm. Some of the songs were hard, especially after I missed how many rehearsal days. Overall the choir and the orchestra were very good.

The next day, went to Indonesian Mass in Union City (45 minutes from SF). We picked up Yute (in Daly City Bart) and Betti. Again, I sang in the choir. Poor Didi, he just waited waited waited when we were practicing our songs. I think he fell asleep a few times. Sorry honey, maybe next time I shouldn't join the choir.
With Father Vito Perrone

Like usual after Mass we had Indonesian dinner in the hall, gosh I was starving. Chat a little bit with Yulia Tanu...aha!! and introduced her to Didi...right away she knew what was going on....kekekkee...

We didn't stay long, around 7 pm right after we finished dinner we took off (didn't want to miss Desperate Housewives). We dropped off Yute, Cik Wenny, Cik Sofa & Irene.

Finally Yeehaaa, I finished my Lenten fasting. Now I can have seafood and alcohol again, too bad I don't have my partner in crime (Novi). Believe it or not, we had been planning where should we go tomorrow (I asked for a day off on Monday-specially to celebrate this, Unbelievable). Well, I need to figure it out who should I call tomorrow then. For tonight, I'd love to have a glass of red wine.

Rest In Peace - Darryl Osborne (Steve's Dad)

We got this sad news from Novi on Saturday around noon. Steve's dad passed away because of heart attack this morning. I was about to go to Wisma Indonesia for Bpk Rahardjo's Farewell Luncheon before she called, but then Didi and Me decided to go to their place instead. We brought them lunch and pastry. We were there for a few hours and had lunch together. They'll be gone for a week (the funeral will be on Thursday) and we will come by to their house when they're gone just to make sure Cinta and Juna are oke.
Novi & Steve both of us are really sorry, please accept our deepest condolences and sympathy, may his soul rest in peace.

If you'd like to express your sympathy and condolences for them, please visit Novi's blog

Happy Birthday Hon Tran & Happy Retirement Tom

Happy 40th Birthday Hon

Tuesday, March 22nd my co-worker, Hon Tran, turned big 40. As always I was in-charged for putting flyers/notes everywhere around Kuletos so around 150 employees knew his Birthday.
And some of the managers chipped in and got him presents, 2 Kenneth Cole shirts and 2 ties that he can macth with his shirts. Somehow we were not comfortable to give him gift certificate, we don't trust his fashion taste. Ooh gosh, I'm bad! Mary Ann got him sweater.
Hon is such a character. Good man and always in hyper mood.

Yehaaaa!! and Hon got spank from Jim

Also this week we said Good Luck to one our Purchasing Manager, Tom Anderson. He'll retire after 10 years working for Kuletos. So we had a little luncheon on Thursday.

Brunch @ Gigi Brasserie- Sofitel Hotel & ER trip

We had brunch at Gigi Brasserie - Sofitel Hotel to celebrate Larisa's With Tata and Baby Lala
1 month anniversary (Tata & Yoga's 1st daughter). We were late and a lot of people showed up. Didi's parents & brother were there too. The food quite good, they served champagne & OJ (Mimosa), too bad I couldn't have those.

We left around 2.30 pm, and it was raining really really bad. Later on we found out, there was actually Tornado in South San Francisco (WOW! Tornado in here, I thought we ONLY have earthquake).
We planned just to stay home the whole afternoon and evening.

But then around 8 pm, Didi was cleaning our rug and something got into his left eye. He tried to wash it several times but he still could felt something whenever he blink his eyes. His left eye was so red and he barely could open it.

We went to Wallgreens and asked the pharmacist there what type of eye drops he could use. As soon as the pharmacist saw him, he said "Wow, your eye is bloody red, you better go to ER!"

Oh gosh, looked like something serious. Didi didn't want to go to ER of course, but I persuaded him. Because Didi's right eye already half blind, and now something happened to his left eye/ his good eye.
I don't want to take chance something bad happened.
We went to Seton Hospital ER, luckily we were the 2nd person there. Good thing nothing bad really happened. The doctor gave him some kind of eye drops which numb his eye. At least he wasn't in pain anymore. Hopefully his eye will be better tomorrow. Goosh, what a night, we planned just to stay home the whole evening and looked what happened.

Gordon Birsch & Frisson

Gordon Birsch
Didi had to work on Saturday for a few hours and I went to committee meeting for Indonesian Day at Wisma Indonesia from 12.00-3.30 pm, that was quite a long meeting.
The lunch they provided was super yum yum. Sayur Lodeh, Sambel Goreng buncis & udang, Pepes Ikan, Empal goreng, Sambel Lalap, Ikan asin goreng, Rempeyek kacang & teri…hmmm… and from all of those, I only ate the sayur loder, lalap & rempeyek kacang. I almost cheated and broke my Lenten fasting, but come to think of it, it’s only 1 more week though. Be tough girl!

After the meeting, went to Novi’s house, burnt more songs and Novi showed me how to organize my MT, and then we went home.

Dinner time we went out to Funeya. We picked up Maya, Karlina & Novi. Gregg joined us later. After Funeya, all the gang showed up, because they thought we were going to Café de Pera (which is across the street from Funeya), but then we decided to go to Gordon Birsch. There were 15 of us – Me, Didi, Novi, Maya, Gregg, Karlina, Andry, Alvin, Reza, Rudy, Fei fei, Trisia, Sandi, Gilda & her new boyfriend.
Frisson.jpg

Around 1 am, we decided to go to Frisson, this time only the 13 of us (without Gilda & her friend). This place is a very trendy & fancy restaurant/lounge. All the guests were nicely dress up and some of the female wore wigs. Waah, we need to check out this place again next time, and we need to dress up. Because I felt like gembel / homeless when I was there.
This place has the coolest bathroom in the city ever. Too bad I didn’t bring my camera when we went downstair. And the funny thing, Didi was so drunk that night, and he went to the bathroom too, not once, twice, but he didn’t say a thing. We found out later in the car, that actually he went to the staff/employee bathroom. No wonder he said, the employee downstairs looked at him oddly. Well of course, you went to employee bathroom, what do you expect. Oh ya, thanks to Gregg, he treated us that night. He also bought Alvin & Reza shots (not sure what was that, and they said that was the worse drink, tasted like jamu – bitter). Well after the shot, pretty much Alvin & Reza acted weird….hehehhee….they were so drunk.
Frisson
We left Frisson around 2.30 am, and they were all hungry, especially Reza. And the only place open 24 hrs is Dennys. So we went to Dennys in Japantown, Ajas met us there.
Wow Dennys was packed. After this early bfast, we all went home, we dropped off Novi.
We got home around 4 am and slept at 4.30 am.

Getting better and better

Today I'm getting better and better, eventhough not totally 100% back to normal (I still have cough, stuffy nose & that sexy Bass voice). I started my antibiotic yesterday, which was good.
It all started last Tuesday, I had sore throat and a little bit of fever, which I took care of by taking over-the-counter cold medicine. I couldn't call in sick, so I had to drag myself to work for the rest of the week because we had deadline for the month end closing. The sad part, Didi got sick too because of me. He called in sick last Friday.

Then on the weekend my body fell apart. Everything seemed got worse. We just rested and stayed home on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. What a wasted weekend. We hate it!
We missed Novi’s invitation for Sunday afternoon snack (she made Siomay….bikin lagi doong say…:-0), and we missed Karlina-Alvin’s birthday dinner at Buca di Beppo.

Even after all those resting days, I still had my cold on Monday and finally I called in sick. I didn’t go to the doctor, and still hope just by resting I could get better. However, that was not the case, I couldn’t sleep because I was coughing pretty bad, and I decided to take sleeping pill.

Even when I came to work on Tuesday, I was not doing well at all, I could barely open eyes. Still couldn’t go to the doctor, because my doctor left early that day. It should had been me who left early doctor, not you! I asked him to give me prescription for antibiotic over the phone, but he wouldn’t do that. I begged him to give me 1 day supply, and finally he did. Well hopefully with stronger medication, I’d be a little better. I left work around 3 pm.

The next day (Wednesday) I was back again at work, I was still sick, and definitely I needed to see my doctor. So I left my office around 4.15 pm and be standby patients, which was suck. He didn’t see me until 6.45 pm. Aarrrghhh.
Basically what can I do now is just rest and take the medicines. And hopefully we’ll get better soon. We don't really have plan to do this weekend. Didi has to come to work for a few hours tomorrow, and I probably go to Indonesian Day Committe meeting at Wisma Indonesia.

Allright everybody, have a great weekend and stay dry! (base on our weather forecast it will be raining for a few days)

Karlina's Surprise Birthday Luncheon

Novi and Me with the Bday GirlAfter all the eventful party last night, we had to wake up quite early today for Karlina’s Surprise Bday Party @ 12 pm. We picked up Novi & Steve (and also Pizzas from Orgasmica). We all met at Fei-Fei’s apartment first until we got the oked from Andry to go to the Roof Top. We didn’t go to the Roof Top until around 1.30 pm, and we were all starving.

Karlina totally had no clue about this surprise party, Great job Ndry! Andry told us, that actually Karlina complained about why nobody remembered her birthday, and right after she finished her sentence all of us showed up and SUPRISEE her (we didn’t forget about your birthday Kar, blame Andry for not letting the usual midnight ritual).

some of us.jpg
It was fun, we had pizzas, chicken wings and bday cakes…Yuuum. And the weather was nice, actually a little bit too hot. We left around 4 o’clock because I had choir at my parish church. We ordered Sayur Asem w/ tahu & tempe bacem from local catering for dinner. So we just stayed home the rest of the evening.

13 of us got stucked in Elevator for almost 1 hr

Well well well, you thought it just happened on TV and you would never experienced it. Then you're wrong!

13 of us (Gregg, Me, Didi, Novi, Karlina, Andry, Kathy, Trisia, Michelle, Antos, Kresna, Reza & Alvin)got stucked in elevator on the way down from Gregg's place in the 4th floor. The elevator moved for a few seconds before it actually stopped. Oh NO!
stuck_1.jpg

I experienced something like this before, the elevator stopped but then it moved again. Well not in this case, the elevator didn't move at all. Everbody started to make a call, but no signal, damn!
I started to get nervous. I thought that we would run out of oxygen.
Others made bad joke, about the connection between 13 people in the elevator (bad number) and also that we were on the 4th floor (4 means dead in chinese)...Hmm thanks guys!! bad timing!!...I know it was only a joke..

stuck_2.jpg

We waited waited waited, Novi kept pressing the emergency bell, it just rang, but didn't seem to connect to the elevator company or somewhere else. We shouted HELP!!!, but seemed noone listened.
The 15 minutes was just dragging, we felt hot, and of course with 13 people we fought for oxygen. Some of us took of their jackets, some people started to sweat.

Luckily, Gregg's phone got a signal (Two tumbs up for Verizon!), he called 911 right away. And Didi got signal too, he then called Steve (Novi's husband) and told him what happened, just in case Gregg's called got disconnected, we told somebody that we got stucked. Didi kept telling Steve, "this is serious Steve, we're not fu***ing lying, we got stucked in elevator", but maybe Steve thought we were just playing around.
(we found out the next day, that actually Steve thought that we were joking when Didi told him what happened, he thought that it was just a way to get him back to Gregg's party)
stuck_3.jpg

After 30 minutes, the 911 arrived, but they couldn't come inside the building. And Gregg didn't know what the access code to open the door. They even tried to press the #s for other tenants, but nobody at home. Thanks to Kresna, he remembered the universal code, and apparently that number works. So they were able to come inside the building.

It tooked them quite a while to open the door on the 3th floor. After they were able to open it, they instructed us to open the elevator door. When the door opened, we got fresh air. Oohh that felt good.
The opening was quite small, they wanted us to get out from that opening. But oh well, even Trisia (the smallest among us) couldn't get in.

The Firemen couldn't figure it out how to operate the elevator, it was strange they didn't have key for that. Gregg was busy calling the Elevator company. Didi told the Firemen that maybe he can open one of the panel to make the opening a little bigger. Eventough they told Didi not to do it, or didn't touch anything, Didi insisted he could do it, and he asked them to hand him the tools. They did, and Didi was able to open the panel and made it a little bit bigger. Yeeahhh....That's my boy!! During that time, Didi and Gregg was very calm and was able to handle the situation.

When the opening was a little bigger, they told us to hand over our bags/purse, jackets or anything that might get stuck on our way out.
Oh well my camera too, I had to stop took pictures.
Then we started to get out one by one. Man that was quite something.
Trissia got out first, then Michelle, Karlina, Me, Kathy, Novi, Alvin, Andry, Kresna, Antos, Didi, Reza and the last one was our Captain, Mr. Gregg. As soon as I was safe back on the 3rd floor, I just ran, grabbed my camera again, and started shooting. Unfortunately no picture of me when I was being lifted up by the Firemen.
After our safe returned we gave applaus to all the Firemen who saved us, and also we took picture with them. Thank you guys!

stuck_4.jpg

Reza told us later, that he got stucked on his chest, but the Firemen pulled him hard, that was why he got bruises on his chest. Oh poor Reza.

Well Thank God, everything was oke. This experience was something that I don't think we will ever forget.

We got home around 2.30 am, then Gregg called he said that he had a little chat with the Firemen, and they said maybe they can have beers with the girls...hahahahaaaaa....I think we can arrange that, as long as we don't have to get stuck again in the elevator.

Bbq party at Gregg's place

l-r: Gregg, Antos, Me and Reza
After long due promised, Gregg finally invited us to his place for Bbq Party. Pretty much Novi and me invited all of our friends, especially Gregg mentioned about bring a lot of ceweks. Hmmm, it kinda hard, most of our friends are cowoks, and all the girls pretty much not available.

Didi and I arrived at his place around 8.15 pm, only Haek (Gregg's buddy) was there. The rest of the group showed up around 9-ish. Karlina, Andry, Alvin, Sandi, Reza, Trisia, Kathy, Novi, Steve, Antos, Kresna, Michelle, Maya, Tony & Ina (she only stayed for 15 min). Novi made special clam appetizers and also Mojito. And I brought veggie dumplings, loots of it, actually I also brought Spaghetti Tuna Salad, but too bad I forgot to take it out from the plastic bag.

Gregg showed us his old old pictures, Damn he has alot of Indonesian girls hang out with him.

Maya, Steve, Sandi & Tony left around 12 am, but the rest of us left around 1 am. And the journey from this 4th floor was something we won't forget, Why?? BECAUSE 13 OF US GOT STUCKED IN ELEVATOR FOR ALMOST 1 HR!!
