Pope John Paul II Died
Pope John Paul II (born Karol Wojtyla), the Polish pontiff who led the Roman Catholic Church for more than a quarter century and became history's most-traveled pope, died at the age of 84. I heard this news when we were at Valen's Bar. I was very very sad.
He was a great and holy man. I wished I could fly to Rome and attended his funeral. (The closest encountered I had with him was when he came to Jakarta in 1989 and held Mass in Stadiun Utama Senayan. I was in the Korps Putri Tarakanita Marching Band. We performed together with Santa Ursula's Marching Band). Physically, he has gone, but his spirit still lives on among Catholics around the world.
